Dominoes are versatile thinking/learning tools. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and textures. Sometimes positioning them in a high volume traffic area of our classroom creates a provocation. Other times I use dominoes to teach a specific lesson.
Today I used dominoes as a playful assessment in counting using one to one correspondence. Often the children will remember another thinking/learning lesson and apply that one to the present lesson. That happened today. In these photos you can see this Bitty Brown Bat counting using one to one correspondence. He’s also arranging the dominoes to create his own pattern.
Now I have a better understanding of where this BBB is with patterns and counting using one to one correspondence.
Tomorrow is PJ Day, and 3:15 dismissal begins our spring break!!!
