It was good to be with the material, clay, this morning. Clay is always an option for children as a choice, language to tell their stories, or provocation for an intentional thinking/learning activity.
This morning Maggie prepared the clay table with special pre-cut clay shapes and slip. Slip also goes by the name, slurry. It’s a mixture of clay and/or other materials suspended in water. It can be used for the purpose of bonding/sealing two pieces of clay.
Our clay area is open for the pure sake of knowing the clay, becoming familiar with the clay, and for the children’s expression. It is also sometimes an area with an intention.
Notice how the children used today’s provocation.
