In this blog post children are working with clay. The challenge is to create objects with hollow insides; specifically, hollow bats for firing in our school kiln.
For me the challenge is how to explain hollow to the children. With the approaching holiday, I can always use hollow chocolate bunnies and/or hollow chocolate eggs.
If you follow this blog you know that the Little Brown Bat is of particular significance to us since we’ve adopted it as part of our class culture. At our next curriculum evening, Wednesday, March 16, parents, you’ll be taking part in a clay workshop, hollowing out your own bats for firing and to be placed on display in our room. You don’t want to miss this curriculum evening!!!!! AND dress down in work clothes.
