The Children Are Beginning to Add Letters As Another Language in Their Repertoire

IMG_5149

In this photo you can see one child studying an alphabet strip and transferring letters to a piece of paper on a clipboard.  The children are beginning to add letters as another language in their repertoire used to tell their stories.  They are experimenting with letters, stringing them along and replicating them from letter strips with icons placed about in areas in our room.

These are the same letter icons that will be used in kindergarten to identify letters and sounds.  The children will continue this study next year using Fundations, a program designed to teach letters and letter sounds.
