This week the children made a chicken brooder in anticipation of the arrival of the baby chicks hatching from the eggs in the incubator. Of course, the chickens needed a home, a safe place to live, while they were in our room. And in true children’s style, the home had to be special, complete with decorations. In these photos you can seen one group of children creatively applying design to make the brooder the best chicken habitat ever. The children’s bonding with the chicks began about three weeks ago when we placed the eggs in the incubator. Each day they patiently waited, and while they waited they spent time in the chicken coop predicting, analyzing, and researching.
