Animals are important in our classroom.  They provide friendship, teach us lessons about responsibility, nurture empathy, and provoke the children to engage in research.  Our classroom is home to fish, worms, hermit crabs, and this week, chicks.  In these photos you can see a couple of the children doing fish research.  They observe, take notes, have conversations, and place their work in a fish research book.  At times the children make gifts for their friends, the fish.
