In order to prepare the children for the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday, we chose a book to study about Dr. King’s life. Everyday we read part of the book, and we asked the children to write about the book and the things that they were learning. The photo in this post is one such writing that was produced by one of the children. As she presented her work to the class, she said that the cone looking drawings are peace signs, and she drew those because Dr. King talked about peace. On Monday, when we observe Dr. King’s birthday, we might think about this four year old child’s drawing that powerfully symbolizes Dr. King’s dream that we all live in peace.
