Children Are Serious about Their Work When We Allow Them to Take Charge of Their Own Learning

Last week we were working on a special project.  One student said, ” I can do a home research.  I can call my aunt who traveled to Africa to tell me about some of the animals that she saw?”  The next day when the committee working on this special project met to continue work on their project, the student who did the home research presented us with this information.  You can read the information on her home research.  She said that her aunt saw warthogs, lions, monkeys, and elephants.  Children are serious about their work when we allow them take charge of their own learning.
