The children have barely begun to explore wire. They’ve done some pattern, beading work using wire. This week I noticed one of the children working with a piece of wire. You can see in this photo the work that he created as he explored. Maybe it’s time to give the children more opportunities to begin to build a relationship with wire. As this child worked with this piece of wire, I sat and took notes. I was near him, yet not bothering him with details of the work that we were both doing. We seemed to be content with close proximity, yet not intrusive of each other’s work. For me, this was a powerful experience in research and practicing the Pedagogy of Listening.
