The children decided to combine zoo/safari animals with clay this week. The outcome was beautiful! They showed empathy for the animals by creating beautiful accessories for the animals. The children recognize and appreciate beauty. They stop and gaze at beautiful things. They linger at places of beauty. These places capture them and are provocations for more complex play. In the above photo you can see a well-crafted saddle, along with head, feet, and tail adornment. The marriage of these two materials is evidence of thoughtful planning as the children make a plan for their morning play.
