In our room there are some potted vines hanging from the high mantle behind the family photo table. The children have created a trellis so that the vines can have a place to rest as they meander in and out of the grid. The children collected tree limbs and sorted them. They experimented with the actual format of the trellis and finally set it. They bound the limbs with copper wire. Then they added shells, corks, stones, and tree bark to the trellis. Soon we are hoping to get it hung so that the vines can have a home. This is another example of empathy that the children exhibit – finding a home for a plant.
